BEN MADDEN

President

Mike is the Portfolio Manager of MRR Brands Fund, L.P. which launched in 2023. Since 2007, he has been the CEO of Matuz Venture Partners, a family office serving high net worth individuals. Prior to MRR, Mike worked for eight years in marketing, strategy, sales and operations roles for First Step Fitness, his family’s privately held gym membership business. Additionally, he played an integral role in the $20M sale of the business to LA Fitness n 20012.

Mike earned his B.S. in Business/Economics from California State Long Beach, and his M.B.A. from Chapman University School of Management with a degree in Finance, Marketing and Strategy.

Shaun Dougherty and her co-founder built Mophie into the No. 1-selling battery case manufacturer in North America, a status it sustained from 2008-2016.

They did this from the company’s HQ in Orange County. When Mophie was acquired by Zagg for $100 million 2016, there were more than 100 employees working out of a 48,000-square-foot building in Santa Ana.
